Objectives
The aims of the course is to provide basic competences on the numerical modeling and approximation of the fluid-structure interaction problem
Topics
Brief review on fluid-dynamics and computational fluid-dynamics;
The Navier-Stokes equations in a moving domain;
Brief review on continuum mechanics and related numerical
methods;
Fluid-structure interaction: the continuous problem;
Numerical methods for FSI in small deformations: added mass method; ;
Partitioned algorithms for FSI: explicit, semi-implicit and implicit methods, added mass effect;
Monolithic schemes: preconditioners, Newton and inexact-Newton global methods;
Algebraic setting of the FSI problem;
Numerical methods for FSI with an immersed structure
